International Study Scholarships for Students

South Suburban College Foundation with the International/Intercultural Studies Committee is pleased to announce the 2009 International Study Scholarships for SSC students.

SSC Foundation Africa Scholarship:Photo, Cape of Good Hope, South Africa

The SSC Foundation Africa Scholarship is designed to assist in funding study in the Accra, Ghana Summer Program administered through University Studies Abroad Consortium (USAC). Programs and transportation costs are fully funded by the South Suburban College Foundation. Scholarships will be awarded in the spring for use in the following summer. Scholarship recipients are selected by a committee consisting of representatives from International Studies and the College Foundation. June - July 2009.

Application Deadline:
November 15, 2008

Eligibility:

  • Must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.00.
  • Must have completed a minimum of 15 college-level credit hours by the end of the semester of application.
  • Must be enrolled for a minimum of six credit hours during semester prior to departure.
  • Must be a resident of School District 510.
  • Must complete all appropriate application materials, including three letters of recommendation, a personal essay, and a personal interview. Other materials may be obtained by contacting Al Jackson at (708)596-2000, ext. 2349 or ajackson@southsurburbancollege.edu
SSC Foundation China Scholarship

Chinese University of Hong KongThe SSC Foundation China Scholarship is designed to assist in funding study in the China Summer Program administered through University Studies Abroad Consortium (USAC). Programs and transportation costs are fully funded by the South Suburban College Foundation. Scholarships will be awarded in the spring for use in the following summer. Scholarship recipients are selected by a committee consisting of representatives from International Studies and the College Foundation. June-July 2009.

Application Deadline: November 15, 2008

Eligibility:

  • Must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.00.
  • Must have completed a minimum of 15 College-level credit hours at SSC by the end of the semester of application.
  • Must be enrolled for a minimum of six credit hours at SSC during semester prior to departure.
  • Must be a resident of District 510.
  • Must complete all appropriate application materials, including an application form, three letters of recommendation, a personal essay, and a person interview. Other materials may be obtained by contacting Al Jackson at (708)596-2000, ext. 2349 or ajackson@southsuburbancollege.edu.

SSC Foundation Costa Rica Scholarship:Photo of Costa Rica

The SSC Foundation Costa Rica Scholarship is designed to assist in funding study in the Illinois Consortium for International Studies and Programs (ICISP) sponsored study abroad program in Costa Rica. Programs and transportation costs are fully funded by the South Suburban College Foundation for a four-week summer course in the Spanish language and Costa Rican culture and history. Scholarships will be awarded in the spring for the use in the following summer. Scholarship recipients are selected by a committee consisting of representatives from International Studies and the College Foundation. June-July 2009.

Scholarships will be awarded in the spring for the use in the following summer.
