South Suburban College and Chicago Manufacturing Center have created a Lean Institute for businesses and individuals that want to increase productivity and quality of product and services. Lean Manufacturing is a philosophy of efficiency which, when implemented, shortens the time between customer order and factory shipment by eliminating waste.

Lean manufacturing is changing businesses around the world–from small manufacturers to large–and creating outstanding results that translate into bottom-line profits. It's not uncommon to save tens or even hundreds of thousands of dollars by implementing simple lean manufacturing techniques. Manufacturers, small and large, have seen improvements that include:
