The Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC) provides FREE counseling and technical assistance to Illinois firms pursuing government contracts. Since the establishment of the program in 1985, South Suburban College PTAC clients have been awarded contracts totaling more than $176 million.
The following services are among those provided by the PTAC:
- Automated Bid Match—A customized profile is created for each PTAC client and used to electronically search the Commerce Business Daily, the Internet, electronic bulletin boards, and other sources of government solicitations. The resulting bid opportunities are e-mailed to the client daily.
- Applications and Certifications—Clients are provided with registration forms and other initial paperwork required to sell to federal, state and local government entities.
- Bid Packages—Counseling is provided to guide a client through the process of ordering, completing and submitting a bid package.
- Contract Administration—Counseling and workshops are provided on topics such as federal acquisition regulations, contract clauses, military packaging, and electronic commerce.
- Resource Materials—The PTAC maintains a library of current military specifications and standards, as well as a database of information on national stock numbers, contractor histories and technical characteristics of items.
The PTAC office is open Monday-Friday. Counseling is available by appointment. A Client Profile Form is required for new clients.
