Radiologic Technology Program

With faith in both faculty and the Advisory Committee, we set forth the following goals for the Radiologic Technology Program:

1. To provide a structured curriculum that has the expanse and depth for the preparation of the entry-level radiographer.
2. To enhance problem solving and critical thinking skills of the student.
3. To prepare students for National Credentialing Exam.
4. To empower students/graduates to continuously improve professionally, and seek various educational advancement.
5. To graduate students who embrace the holistic concern of others.

1. Submit an SSC Application/Registration form and forward all high school as well as other college transcripts directly to the Office of Admissions and Evaluation no later than March 1.

2. Submit the Radiologic Technology Program Admission Application form to the Program by mail or in person (Room 4453) no later than March 1 prior to the Summer semester wishing admission.

3. Admission to the Radiologic Technology Program will be determined by a ranking of the grade point average (GPA) of the program prerequisite courses only and residency status. No student will be considered for admission to the Radiologic Technology Program unless they have received at least a grade of “C” in all the program prerequisites and minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 (A=4.00). Students must finish all pre-requisite courses by December prior to the summer semester of the year you are seeking admission.

4. Score of 75% or better on admissions test.

If students are planning to transfer credit from another institution for a currently enrolled course(s), they are responsible for providing the mid-term grade to the Program Coordinator.

Although priority for admission will be given to applicants who meet the published application deadline date, application forms will be accepted throughout the entire academic cycle. Residents of South Suburban College’s District will be given first priority for admission into the program. Admission to the College does not guarantee admission to the program.

5. You will be notified in writing of your admission status no later than April 15.

Admission to the program will be determined by a ranking of the grade point average (GPA) based on the program prerequisite courses only. Priority is given to in-district students and cooperative program students from other Illinois community colleges.

Prior to enrolling in the Radiologic Technology program, students are advised to review the applicable licensure/certification procedures and requirements and state laws of the profession to ensure that they are eligible to receive a license/certification following completion of the Radiologic Technology program at South Suburban College. Eligibility for licensure may be limited by the results of a criminal background investigation.

NOTE: Admission to the College does not guarantee acceptance to the Radiologic Technology Program. Students admitted to the program must maintain a minimum grade of "C" or better in all of the general education and professional courses. The Radiologic Technology Program is offered only as a FULL-TIME DAY OPTION.
