SSC Purpose Statements
The general education requirements for the Associate in Applied Science Degree are listed below. Students must fulfill the requirements of Group I, II, III, and IV or V.
Group I - Communication (Minimum 6 hours)
Group II - Humanities and Fine Arts (Minimum 3 hours)
Group III - Social and Behavioral Sciences (Minimum 3 hours)
Group IV - Mathematics (Minimum 3 hours)
OR
Group V - Physical and Life Sciences (Minimum 3 hours)

Students will learn to write and speak standard English in a grammatically correct, well-organized and coherent manner for a variety of purposes; they will demonstrate an understanding of the various forms of rhetoric; and they will demonstrate library/research skills.
