An exploration of how the computer impacts all aspects of society. Course content includes an overview of computer hardware and software, management information systems, programming languages, word processing, spreadsheets, databases, presentation graphics, and the Internet. Previous keyboarding or typing instruction is highly recommended. This course is taught on Macintosh computers. It is especially appropriate for students intending to major in art, graphic design/communications, journalism, printing and/or publishing. Fee.

Fundamental principles concepts, and methods of computing, with emphasis on applications in the physical sciences, engineering and mathematics. Basic problem solving and programming techniques; fundamental algorithms and data structures; use of computers in solving engineering and scientific problems. Programming language is C++. Fee.

This course will cover data types and operations, expressions, control structures, data structures and their representation, recursion, string processing, searching and sorting techniques. Emphasis on structured programming and design. Programming language is C++. Fee.
