South
Suburban College District 510 is governed by a
seven-member Board of Trustees. Trustees are elected at
large by the residents of the College District and are
charged with determining the policies of the College. Each
year, the students of the College elect a Student Trustee,
a nonvoting member, who acts in an advisory capacity to
the Board of Trustees.

Frank
M. Zuccarelli,
Chairman
|
Zuccarelli,
a South Holland resident, has served as a member of the South Suburban Board of Trustees since 1978 and has been Board Chairman since 1987. A former student of the college, Zuccarelli is committed to maintaining an affordable educational system for the working person while keeping local taxes at the lowest possible level.
During Frank’s tenure, SSC has expanded its academic programs, initiated tuition deferments, and developed partnerships with DePaul, Governors State, Chicago State University and the University of St. Francis among other institutions.
In addition to his role at SSC, Zuccarelli has served as Thornton Township Supervisor since 1993.

John
A. Daly, Vice-Chair

Daly,
an Oak Forest resident, has served as a member of the SSC Board of Trustees since 1991. He became Vice-Chairman in 1994 and served as Chairman of the Presidential Search Committees. As Vice-Chair of the Board, Daly leads SSC’s ongoing efforts to improve services while maintaining a stable or reduced tax rate.
Married with five children, Daly is the Village Administrator for Orland Hills. In addition to his role at SSC, Daly continues to serve as Chairman of the South Suburban Mayors and Managers Association’s Management & Finance Committee since 1996. He is the past Chairman of the Chicago Southland Convention and Visitor’s Bureau and a member of the Southwest Conference of Mayors. Daly also has been a member of the Selective Service Local Review Board since 1991.

Katie
Jackson Booker

Jackson
Booker, a Dixmoor resident, has served as a member of the SSC Board of Trustees since 1994. She has a strong interest in assuring that the college’s programs and services are accessible to all District 510 residents who may benefit from them. Jackson Booker serves as Chairperson of the Board’s Policy Committee, and is active with the SSC Disabled Students Advisory Board.
A married mother of four children, four grandchildren and Kameron, Jackson Booker is Public Relations Specialist for ACHN South Suburban Cook County. Jackson Booker is also a member of St. Mark Church Cathedral, Vice President of St. Mark’s Medical Facility in Harvey, President of the Dixmoor Civic Organization, member of the West-Harvey Dixmoor Board of Education #147 where she serves as Chairperson of the Finance Committee, and Secretary-Treasurer of the National CBSBM.

Anthony
P. DeFilippo

DeFilippo,
a Calumet City resident, has served on the SSC Board of Trustees since 1989. His involvement in the community is rather extensive, as he belongs to a number of civic, social, church and professional organizations. DeFilippo’s Masters degree in finance allows him to focus on maintaining the financial integrity of the college.
As a registered pharmacist, DeFilippo works to bring healthcare services to underserved residents in the Metro Chicagoland area. He works in the public healthcare sector, serves as a local health commissioner, and is an adjunct faculty member to a number of local universities. DeFilippo is also an advocate of the college's health science programs. |

Jacqueline
Martin
|
Martin is in her second term as a member of the SSC Board of Trustees. She serves as Chairperson for the Board’s Architectural Committee, and is committed to ensuring the best possible facilities and technology for SSC students.
Employed as a legislative assistant, Jacque also serves on the Advisory Board for Disabled Students and as a Director on the SSC Foundation Board. Martin is an active member of the Lansing Junior Women's Club, where she is the former president and current treasurer of the organization. She was voted Junior of the Year for 1997-98 and 2000-01.
Jacque, a married mother of two, is also a member of the Parent Teacher Association for School District 215 and School District 158, and former coach for the Lansing Lions Widget Cheerleading Squad.

Terry
R. Wells
|
Wells,
a Phoenix resident, was appointed to the SSC Board of Trustees in 2001. He currently serves as Chairperson of the Board’s Legislative Committee, and represents SSC as a legislative liaison in Springfield through the Illinois Community College Trustee Association. Terry’s goals include working with local high schools to inform them about the wealth of programs and support services available at SSC, and increasing student enrollment.
Married with two children, Wells is employed as a history teacher at Thornton High School. He also serves as President of the Village of Phoenix, a position he has held since 1993. In addition to his other roles, Wells is a member of the South Suburban Mayor and Managers Association.

Joseph Whittington, Jr.

Whittington, Jr., a Harvey resident, was elected to his first term as a member of the SSC Board of Trustees in 2005. He currently serves as Chairperson of the Board’s Audit Committee. Joseph has been a mentor to countless youth in the community for the past 24 years.
Married with four children, Whittington is employed by P.A.C.E. Institute, located within the Cook County Department of Corrections in Chicago. Over the past 30 years, he has worked his way up to the esteemed position of Senior Facilitator. Whittington has also served as the 2nd Ward Alderman of Harvey since 2003, where he has initiated programs to revitalize the 2nd Ward.
